A Couple in Distress: The Beginning of Repair
Jodi Ames-Frankel, Ph.D., Moderator and Facilitator
Attendees will watch a portion of the DVD of Sue Johnson working with a live couple at the 2004 Externship in Ottawa. You will see her working with them on the first change event in EFT, de-escalation and begin to move into Stage 2 work. Elements of the couple’s cycle are starting to become modified. The withdrawer is getting more involved and risking more, and the pursuer is less reactive and hostile. We then get to witness Dr. Johnson help this couple begin to restructure their interactions to foster emotional reengagement and repair, with both the withdrawer and the pursuer.
