Identifying and Working with the Negative Sexual Cycle in EFT

Presenter:
Michael Moran LCSW, CST

When: Friday, September 30th, 3:30-5:30 PM

Where: Birch Family Services
104 West 29th Street (at Sixth Ave.)
2nd Floor Training Room

At times all therapists are confronted with sexual issues when working with couples; the most common being discrepancies in desire, lack of attraction or sexual incompatibility. When this occurs, EFT couple therapists must learn to skillfully track negative sexual cycle and how it relates to their negative cycle.  In this seminar we will address situations when the positions in the sexual cycle are reversed in comparison to the typical relational cycle and how to use working with negative sexual cycle to move toward deescalation.  Case example and video segments will be used to demonstrate EFT interventions.

Moran3Michael Moran is a licensed psychotherapist and sex therapist located in New York, NY (Chelsea), where he focuses his practice on the intersection of couples therapy and sex therapy; he is the only Certified EFT Couples Therapist and an Approved Supervisor Candidate who is also an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist in NYC.   He is also an adjunct professor at Rutgers University School of Social Work where he teaches Marriage and Family Therapy as well as LGBTQ Issues in Contemporary Society. Before going into private practice, Mike was Director of Training at Corporate Family Network, an EAP and work-life company based in Manhattan.
